Abstract

A new series of nickel (II) complex of the Schiff base derived from salicylaldehyde and 3,4-diaminobenzophenone with glutaric anhydride have been synthesized. These compounds have been characterized by molar conductivity measurements, infrared, and electronic spectra. The Schiff base ligand and its complex further identified by nuclear magnetic resonance (1 H NMR), 13C NMR, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray, fluorescence, and molecular docking study. Antimicrobial activity of the Schiff base ligand and their metal complex reveals that the Schiff base transition metal complex shows significant activity against some bacteria.
